Jersey Of Allen Iverson Retired By 76ers

The Wells Fargo Center came alive last Saturday as the Philadelphia 76ers honored Allen Iverson when it retired his No. 3 jersey during a ceremony at halftime.

The sold-out crowd chanted “M-V-P” as the former Philadelphia basketball star said that they have to show him the person who says that dreams do not come true. He thanked the crowd for accepting him despite the mistakes he did and allowing him to be human. He added that he loved the crowd for embracing him and making Philadelphia his home forever.

The ceremony ended with the raising of a banner to the rafters to the tune of “Simply the Best.” Although the former NBA star officially retired from the league last October, he has not played any games in the league since 2010.

Allen Iverson, nicknamed “The Answer,” led Philadelphia to the NBA finals in 2001. He said he was contented with the fact that his playing career has ended. He said that even though he gave everything he had for basketball, the passion remains. He added he feels good and is happy with his decision. He said that it was a great ride.

Iverson is the eighth Philadelphia 76ers player to have his jersey retired. Amid mixed feelings, he said it was essentially bittersweet. Although it felt good, he added that his hurt hurts since he is aware it is already over. He also said he knows he will never step into the basketball court in a uniform again.

At the end of the ceremony, Allen Iverson said it was already tome to have a party.
