Jewel Divorces Husband Ty Murray

Singer and songwriter Jewel announced that she and her husband, Ty Murray are splitting up after a tumultuous 6 year marriage. The country singer said via her personal website that she and her “friend and partner of 16 years” have agreed to split up.

The singer said that she and her husband have always had a very open and authentic relationship, even before they were married. She said that their divorce was in the same spirit of thoughtfulness and love. She added that the two have been struggling in their relation for quite a while, but have also gone through a painful redefinition of their identities and who they are for each other.

Jewel who is 40 years of age and Ty Murray who is 44 got married back in 2008. They had dated for over 10 years before committing. The two have a son, Kase, who will be 3 years old later this July.

Both parents have specified that the well-being of their son is the most important thing in their lives and judging by the immense respect and appreciation they have for each other, they believe they can be there for him, together. They made it clear that their 3 year old son Kase will be brought up by both parents, also remarking that sharing a child was one of the biggest and most rewarding accomplishments they ever had.
