John Kerry Releases Harsh Accusation Towards Russia
United States Secretary of State John Kerry released some harsh accusations towards Russia this Thursday. He said that Moscow is still funding, coordinating and fueling the well armed separatist movement in Donetsk, Ukraine’s second largest city. He also accused the Russian media of promoting Vladimir Putin’s unrealistic view of the Ukrainian crisis.
Secretary Kerry added that Moscow’s interference is a clear effort to destabilize Ukraine’s democratic process and intimidate any change or reforms the country might undergo. He also mentioned that “the window” for Moscow to change its approach towards the Ukrainian situation is closing with further economic sanctions to follow if Putin’s Russia continues to try and destabilize the former Soviet country.
Russia’s foreign ministry suggested that the United States use its influence over the new Kiev government to “convince it to refrain from rash steps.” The message comes after Ukrainian commandos attacked pro-Russian checkpoints in the city of Sloviansk leaving two separatists dead and an undetermined number injured.
Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin reacted to the death of the two pro-Russian separatists by saying that there will be consequences if “Kiev” has begun using the army against its own people.
Russian ambassador Vitaly Churkin declared that Russia has legal grounds to intervene and deploy “peacekeepers” in Ukraine as it did in Georgia back in 2008.
