John Kerry’s Visit To Ukraine Meant A Significant Subsidy Package

The U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Ukraine’s capital city Kiev, culminated in him delivering a bouquet of roses to the epicenter of the protests that managed to ouster the Moscow backed ex-president Viktor Yanukovych.

Kerry held a speech on Institutska Street amid barbed wire, burnt tires and barricades used in the protests against Yanukovych in the last couple of months. He said that the U.S. is helping and that President Obama is planning more help back in Washington.

Kerry also addressed the Crimean situation urging Russia President Vladimir Putin to pull all Russian troops out of Ukraine’s territory. He said that the Russian President has been trying to come up with any pretext to further invade Ukraine’s territory. He added that this is not a 21st century, G8 country behavior.

In Washington, the Obama administration announced a $1 billion energy subsidy that is meant to keep the interim Ukrainian government going. Obama also had some harsh words against Putin’s deployment of troops saying that most people in the world believe that it is a sovereign people’s right to determine what happens in their own country. He also added that regardless of what the Russian President says the field situation shows he is not “abiding by that principle.”
