John Lennon’s Killer Pursues Parole Again

Many John Lennon fans will certainly be disappointed if Lennon’s killer, Mark David Chapman will be granted a parole this week.Department of Corrections officials in New York announced that Mark David Chapman, will again have his seventh parole hearing on Tuesday.

On December 8, 1980, the legendary British singer-songwriter John Lennon was shot five times on his back outside his apartment in Manhattanand was declared dead on arrival at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Mark David Chapman even asked for Lennon’s autograph before the murder.

Chapman pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder and was sentenced twenty years to life for killing Lennon. Mark David Chapman’s, last parole hearing happened in 2010 but was again denied by New York State Division of Parole.

Yoko Ono, Lennon’s widow, writes a protest lettereach time Chapman submits a request for parole. Ono requested that Chapman’s parole be denied because her family will be put at risk if ever Chapman will be released.Likewise, a lot of letters coming from Lennon fans strongly objects the approval of Chapman’s parole.

Linda Foglia, spokeswoman of the Department of Corrections stated that the decision on whether to release Mark David Chapman will be announced to the public not later this week.
