Jury Gives Jesse Ventura A Favorable Decision

Jesse Ventura got a favorable decision in a defamation case involving late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. He was awarded by a jury $1.845 million after the late Navy SEAL sniper said he hit Ventura in 2006. Kyle indicated that he hit Ventura after the former Minnesota governor said the SEALs needed to lose a few during a war.

The jury awarded Ventura $1.345 million for unjust enrichment and $500,000 in defamation charges. The case stemmed from the 2012 book of Kyle, “American Sniper.” Kyle revealed he punched a famous personality in a bar while he was mourning the death of Michael Monsoor.

Although Jesse Ventura was not mentioned by Kyle in the book, Kyle said he hit the person after he started saying things about the war and anything associated with it. The book indicated that the person said it was wrong to deploy the SEALS, who killed men, women and children. However, Ventura indicated the entire incident was a fabrication.

Kyle was killed in 2013 at a gun range in Texas. The late Navy SEAL said he attempted to tell the man to keep it down, but the man said the SEALs needed to lose a few. The man later took a swing at Kyle, but the Kyle said the man, who was only identified as Mr. Scruff Face, ended up on the floor.

Kyle later revealed, while promoting the book, that Ventura was Mr. Scruff Face.

Legal experts expected Ventura to have a difficult time in getting a favorable decision. However, the jury ruled in favor of the former governor. After the verdict was given, the lawyer of Ventura revealed that no one won in the case.

Reactions on Twitter showed users taking the side of Jesse Ventura, but most users took the side of the family of Chris Kyle.
