Justin Bieber wins MVP at All-Star celebrity game

Justin Bieber proved critics he has some real skills -- at least in the basketball court Friday night. The 16-year old singing sensation notched eight points,  dished out four assists and grabbed two rebounds for good measure during the NBA All-Star celebrity game in Los Angeles.

But his West squad fell to the East 54-49 in an entertaining game that is part of the annual All-Star weekend held by the NBA. Despite the loss of his team, organizers saw it fit to award the Most Valuable Player trophy for the game to Bieber.

The teen pop singer played actively, showing off behind-the-back dribbles, going into the lane and setting up teammates Jalen Rose and A.C. Green in the early going. Bieber even hit a three-point shot later. But he missed another three-point attempt that would have tied it with 30 seconds left.

"I'm just running back and forth. I'm controlling this whole team," he said during a break. "I'm just kidding."

Joining Justin Bieber on the West team were singer Trey Songz, actor Zachary Levi and Rob Kardashian, brother of Kim Kardashian. Another member of the famous Kardashian sisters, Khloe, was with husband Lamar Odom of the hometown Los Angeles Lakers.

The East team was composed of funnyman Nick Cannon, rapper Common and actor Michael Rapaport, along with former NBA players Chris Mullin and Mitch Richmond.

Having failed to win a Grammy award earlier this week, the MVP award for the weekend's basketball exhibition game was like a consolation prize for Justin Bieber.
