Katie Holmes Thanks New Yorkers For Support

The 35-year-old Katie Holmes thanked New Yorkers for the support she got during her troubled and very public split from fellow actor and Hollywood legend Tom Cruise. The actress said that she is brought to tears when she remembers the kindness and support she received from complete strangers while spending time in New York with her daughter.

The actress chose to leave California for New York directly after her divorce and restart her life taking her small daughter Suri with her. The actress said during her recent People Magazine interview that a lot of people who were basically strangers helped her and her daughter in a lot of ways, even “opened their apartments” to them.

The “Batman Begins” star said that she was impressed by the unity she saw in the city and that every visit to the Big Apple reminds her of the huge amount of support she received when she needed it the most.

She compared the unity she saw in New York to “a big game of Red Rover,” where people simply won’t break their bond.

Holmes has since moved on from that troubled period of her life and has moved back to the West Coast in order to further her acting career. She also said that she has completely moved on from her divorce and that she doesn’t want to be defined by it.
