Kevin Garnett Hit The 25,000 Mark Against The Lakers
Legendary forward and Celtic great Kevin Garnett has become the 16th player in all NBA history to hit the 25,000 points mark.
Thursday’s game between the Boston Celtics and LA Lakers gave Boston and indeed basketball fans two reasons to celebrate.
The first was the Boston win by a score of 116 to 95, while the second and more important one is Garnett’s record.
Garnett started the game with six points to go to hit the mark, but was benched after about two minutes after two fouls with no points scored.
However, the start of the second quarter saw a determined Garnett making a long jump shot and reaching the 25,000 point mark with 8 minutes to go.
The fans weren't unmoved by the record and gave Garnett a standing ovation. He acknowledged the response and waved to the fans.
Garnett joins an exclusive club alongside some of the greatest players the sport has ever seen like Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain to name a few.
The record, however, doesn't seem to get to Kevin as he said in a post-game interview. Kevin Garnett puts his success down to time spent in the league and to the work put in, and says he concentrates on team accomplishments before individual ones.
