Kevin Kolb Has Ended His Contract With The Arizona Cardinals
Quarterback Kevin Kolb has ended his contract with the Arizona Cardinals after his injury plagued season.
The team made the move just as they were about to pay Kolb a $2 million bonus. The Cardinals payed Kolb a total of $20 million dollars in the two years he played for the team, and would have made an extra $ 9 million this season.
Transferred with great hopes, Kolb failed to impress at the Cardinals as his two year stay was marked by a long series of injuries and inconsistent play.
Cardinals President Michael Bidwill said in the same conference where he fired coach Ken Whisenhunt “I’m not ready to give up on Kevin Kolb yet,”, however, the Cardinals ended up doing that, as they brought in new coach Bruce Arians and made Steve Keim their new GM.
Kolb appeared in 15 games in the two seasons he spent in Arizona, being a starter in 14. Last season he lost his starting position to John Skelton but came back as starter after Skelton was injured. He lead Arizona to a 4-0 start but in Week 6 he tore a cartilage from his ribs and ended his season.
After his string of injuries, Kevin Kolb was not going to continue with the Cardinals with his big salary, only in case of a restructured deal, a deal that The Arizona Cardinals didn't appear to serious about.
