Kevin Sharp Passes Away
Country music singer Kevin Sharp died last Saturday at the age of 43 due to digestive problems and complications from previous surgeries on his stomach. Mary Huston, sister of the multiple-chart topping singer, made the announcement recently.
Sharp survived a publicized battle with cancer before he died at the home of his mother at Fair Oaks, California.
Huston revealed that the strong heart of her brother kept him alive. However, she was happy for him since he does not have to suffer anymore. Huston took care of her brother since he returned home after spending ten weeks at the hospital.
The "Nobody Knows” single of Sharp on his "Measure of a Ma” 1996 debut album allowed him to gain his popularity. Two other albums were released by Sharp in 1998 and 2005.
When Sharp was still a high school senior, he was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer, Ewing’s sarcoma. He was able to overcome the disease after going through two years of radiation and chemotherapy. The wish of Kevin Sharp of meeting David Foster was granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Grammy Award-winning producer gave Sharp tips to help him start his music career.
Sharp became Make-A-Wish Foundation spokesperson and motivational speaker. He also wrote a book in 2004 about his struggle against cancer, "Tragedy's Gift." In the last few years, the singer struggled from residual problems from the aggressive treatment of his cancer and previous stomach surgery.
Huston said music made his dream come true and he was able to touch the lives of thousands. She added that he helped the healing process of people struggling against cancer.
Kevin Sharp leaves behind his mother, two sisters and five brothers.
