Kim Jong Un Dismisses His Uncle From Defense Commission
Jang Song Thaek, Kim Jong Un’s uncle and a very important figure in the political machine of the DPRK, has been dismissed from his position as vice chairman of the National Defense Commission.
South Korean sources suggests that the young leader himself was behind the move as he may try to enforce his power base and closen ties with a new, younger guard of North Korean politicians.
Political analysts say that the dismissal of the vice-chairman was at least approved if not orchestrated by Kim Jong Un as such a major decision would have passed through the supreme leaders office before being approved.
The move seems to symbolize a win for the military forces of the DPRK as Jang Song will most likely be replaced by one of Kim Jong Un’s closest aides, a key figure in the in the North Korean military and the director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army.
While Jong Song Thaek’s fate is yet unknown members of South Korean intelligence have confirmed that after two members of his team were publicly executed for corruption, the politician has made no public appearance and his location is unknown.
Jang Song Thaek was one of the key figures in the DPRK that ensured the young Kim Jong Un would take his father’s place as leader of the communist country.
