Kindle Update Necessary To Continue Using The Internet

The Kindle update will be necessary for owners of the device or they will lose internet connectivity. The deadline set by Amazon was before March 22. Without internet access, users will have no access to the Kindle Store and they will be unable to sync their devices with the cloud in addition to other services they may be using.

Amazon said the update is necessary to ensure the device remains compliant with industry web standards. If users will not update their devices, they will see a message indicating that they could not connect at the moment and are advised to check their wireless range. They are also asked to restart the device if the issue is not resolved.

Users who are regularly using their device may have nothing to worry about since the Kindle update will automatically start through Wi-Fi. However, if the Kindle was turned off for a long period of time, users should turn the device on and ensure they can Sync and Check on their device.

A confirmation letter is sent to users if the update is successfully applied. Users can check for the "03-2016 Successful Update" message at the Kindle Library and checking all recent items.

It will not be necessary for users of the 6th and 7th generation of the Kindle Parperwhite, 7th generation Kindle and the 7th generation Kindle Voyage to update their devices. But, users of the Kindle devices released from 2007b until 2012 should apply the latest Kindle update. These devices include the 1st and 2nd generation Kindle, 2nd generation Kindle DX, 3rd generation Kindle Keyboard, 4th and 5th generation Kindle, 4th generation Kindle Touch and the 5th generation Kindle Paperwhite.

Amazon also indicated that the 3rd generation Kindle Keyboard, 4th generation Kindle Touch and 5th generation Kindle Paperwhite can only be updated through Wi-Fi. If users are unable to get the Kindle update on time, they will have to download the update and install it into their devices manually.
