Latest Chromebook Pixel Features Two USB-C Ports
The latest Chromebook Pixel was unveiled by Google recently, and similar to the latest MacBook of Apple, the high-end laptop of the online search giant features the USB-C port.
However, the latest version of the Chromebook features two USB-C ports since the company wanted to provide users with the opportunity to simultaneously charge their device while sending images and videos into a separate display. The device also features a pair of USB 3.0 ports along with an SD memory card reader and headphone/microphone jack.
The USB-C standard has the capability of delivering a maximum of 100W of power, which may be bigger than what is needed by the biggest laptops, Google revealed. Whenever a device featuring a USB-C port is plugged in suitable power is provided by the charger, which allows smartphones, tablets and laptops to be charged using a single charger.
Aside from charging devices, USB-C also facilitates high-resolution display output into a television or monitor through HDMI and DisplayPort accessories. The new standard is also capable of transferring data with speeds reaching 20GBs. Current USB devices have a maximum limit of 5GBs.
The Chromebook Pixel features a 12.85-inch display screen with a 2560 x 1700 resolution, which features 239 pixels per inch. The device comes in two models, one with a 2.2GHz Core i5 processor from Intel with 8GB of RAM while the second one comes with a 2.4GHz Core i7 processor from Intel with 16GB of RAM. It is also available in 32GB and 64GB flash storage models.
The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 of the latest Chromebook Pixel facilitates a 4K video output through an HDMI or DisplayPort along with an optional USB-C adapter cable. It also offers a backlit Chrome keyboard as well as an etched glass, clickable trackpad. The device features a 720P HD wide angle camera and a 12-hour battery life.
The latest version of the Chromebook is currently available through the website of Google. The Intel Core i5 version of the Chromebook Pixel is priced at $999 while the Intel Core i7 version has a price tag starting at $1,299.
