Lauryn Hill Working On New Abum
Lauryn Hill posted on a number of her social media sites that she is working on new material. This is fantastic news for Hill’s fans who haven’t heard any new material since 2002 when she recorded “MTV Unplugged No. 2.0”, live at the MTV Studios in Times Square.
Hill hasn't released a new studio album since 1998, when she came out with the cult classic “The Miseductin of Lauryn Hill”. Hill also said that she is putting in motion the basis of a new record label with the help of Sony Worldwide Entertainment as she tries to pay nearly $500,000 in taxes after getting into trouble with the IRS.
In her post the singer said she has been going along with a “10+ year battle” that can be summed up in the war between art and commerce. She added that she has been struggling to get economic and creative freedom without someone controlling her art by means of money.
Hill has had some contact with the charts since her 1998 album. Her 2002 live recording divided her fan base, some calling it brilliant while others didn't think it was her best work.
Lauryn Hill also released a song called “Repercussions” in 2010, a song that didn't really impress reaching a less impressive 83rd position on Billboard’s R&B charts.
