LG G Flex Enters International Market Soon
On the 8th of December, consumers can preorder the LG G Flex smartphone in Singapore and will be offered in Hong Kong by December 13, according to the South Korean device manufacturer. This will be the first time the curved smartphone of LG will be released outside of Korea.
Major mobile service providers and leading electronics retail outlets will be offering the smartphone in Hong Kong. Although the company did not provide future releases of the smartphone, it revealed that a number of key Asian markets will see the release of the device within the year. The device will also be released in other international markets. Europe is expected to see the release of the device before the United States in the coming year.
A source familiar with the launch of the LG G Flex smartphone revealed that the device will definitely be released in the US. AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint are expected to offer the smartphone, according to a tweet from EVleaks.
The main feature of the device is the six-inch curved display that will supposedly fit the contour of the face of the user. It will also amplify the audio of both outgoing and incoming calls. However, the self-healing feature of the device received the most attention since the device can reportedly fix scratches within seconds.
The main rival of the LG G Flex in the market for curved smartphones is the Samsung Galaxy Round. The 5.7-inch display of the Samsung device is curved horizontally. In contrast, the LG smartphone is curved vertically. Although the Samsung Galaxy Round is currently available in South Korea, it is expected to be released to other areas in the future.
Consumers who are aiming to purchase unlocked models of the curved smartphones can purchase the devices online through Negri Electronics. However, the price tag of the LG G Flex and the Samsung Galaxy Round is $989.50 and $939.50, respectively.
