LG G Pad II 10.1 Announced Ahead Of IFA Event
The upcoming IFA trade show in September will see the official launch of the LG G Pad II 10.1. However, prior to the Berlin show, the South Korean electronics giant showed off its new tablet offering, highlighting the competition many companies have to deal with during the event.
The new Android tablet of LG will feature a 10.-inch display screen, a 2.26 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor from Qualcomm, a 5MP camera at the back and a 2MP camera in front. It will utilize the Android 5.1.1 mobile OS of Google. The company said the complete specification of the LG G Pad II 10.1 will be fully revealed during the IFA trade show, which will start on September 4.
The IFA is among the biggest consumer electronics and appliance trade show in the world. It will be attended by most of the best tech companies in the world. Aside from LG, Samsung and Huawei, among others, will join the event. New products are expected to be launched by most of the companies joining the event.
The tablet market is currently sluggish, making it difficult for companies to attract the attention of consumers. For the moment, consumers have not found the products of tablet manufacturers appealing. IDC reduced its forecast for the tablet market last March, indicating that 234.5 million tablet units will be shipped by the end of the year. The figure is only a 2.1 percent increase compared to the year before. In comparison, year-over-year growth in 2013 for the tablet market was at 52.5 percent.
Sales of the iPad of Apple went down by 23 percent in the last-reported quarter of the company compared to the year before. Tablets using the Android OS are also in the same situation. Analysts said consumers have opted to get either large-sized smartphones or slim, lightweight laptops.
Even with the current situation in the tablet market, manufacturers have continued to release new devices. LG Mobile vice president Chris Yie said the LG G Pad II 10.1 focuses on all the needs of consumers. The new tablet features a Reader Mode that decreases blue light to deal with eye fatigue along with a metallic finish.
Yie said customers want large-sized displays, better performance and a bigger battery at a reasonable cost. Yie added the new G Pad answers all of these requirements of the customers. The availability and pricing of the new LG tablet will be announced during the IFA. The LG G Pad II 10.1 is expected to face stiff competition from Apple, which is anticipated to announce new iPads during a rumored event it will host in September.
