Libya Determined to Fight and Die for Oil
Tripoli, Libya - Libya's government spokesperson, Musa Ibrahim, made a controversial statement that made headlines throughout the world. Libya, as he said, is willing to die and kill for oil.
Libya's government has been enraged by the continuous attack from NATO military and rebels. The coordinated attacks from both NATO and the rebels took place in Brega, a town strategically located for being an oil-rich territory.
NATO prompted airstrike attacks at Tripoli, the capital of Libya, after government troops violently countered peaceful and orderly anti-government protests. The aggressive crackdowns by the Libya’s forces prompted into a civil war.
Libya countered the attacks by vowing to fight till death for oil. The continuous violent crackdowns by NATO and the rebels have never shaken Gaddafi and his forces.
Libya is known for having the largest oil reserves in the continent of Africa. It is also ranked ninth in the whole world for oil reserves. Oil has been very precious to Libya that's why people are willing to die just for oil.
The president of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, is willing to sacrifice everything just for oil. Gaddafi added that he and his followers are willing to sacrifice all their luxuries in life just for oil. “Even without electricity, benzene, buildings and air conditioning, we can live”, Gaddafi proudly said.
Currently, the whole country has been plagued by ballooning high commodity prices and shortage of food. Various humanitarian programs have been initiated since April to assist civilians innocently affected by the unending battle for oil.
