Lumia 640 And Lumia 640 XL Unveiled By Microsoft At The MWC

The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL were unveiled recently by Microsoft at the Mobile World Congress, which is currently being held in Barcelona. The launch comes as the tech giant is expected to unveil its next flagship smartphone when it unveils the Windows 10 for mobile devices.

While the two new smartphone offerings have a number of similarities, there are some significant differences between them. The most noticeable difference is the screen size. The 640 features a five-inch display screen, which is smaller than the 5.7-inch screen of the 640 XL. Another notable difference is the battery size. The 640 comes with a 2500mAh battery while the 640 XL has a 3000mAh battery. The difference in size gives users of the 640 XL two extra days of use compared to the 640.

The Lumia 640 XL also has a better set of cameras with its 5MP front-facing camera and 13MP camera at the back. On the other hand, the Lumia 640 only comes with a 1MP camera in front and an 8MP rear-facing camera. Despite the differences in the sensor sizes, the cameras of both devices come with Carl Zeiss lenses.

The brand-new Lumia smartphones are available in two models, 3G and 4G. The Lumia 640 XL is expected to feature a number of color options, including orange, black, glossy white, matte white and matte cyan. It will reach the market by March. In contrast, the Lumia 640 will become available by April and will come in orange, white, glossy cyan and matte black.

The final prices of the two devices have yet to be determined by the mobile service providers that will offer them in the market. However, some industry watchers are expecting the 640 XL to have a more reasonable price tag compared to other devices in the market despite its size and features. An MS Office 365 subscription will also be offered by Microsoft for the users of the two devices along with 60 minutes of free Skype calling and 1TB OneDrive cloud storage space.

Following the announcement of the two devices by Microsoft, AT&T revealed that it will include the two smartphones in its mobile device lineup by spring. The mobile service provider will also have an exclusive on the 640 XL when it reaches the market. While the exact launch date of the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL has yet to be revealed by AT&T, the two devices are already posted on its website.
