Malaysia Airlines Flight MH148 Makes Emergency Landing At Melbourne Airport

False alerts from the system of a Malaysian Airlines plane forced the aircraft to make an emergency landing at the Tullamarine Airport recently. The systems of flight MH148 warned pilots of a possible engine fire.

However, after an inspection of the aircraft at the Melbourne airport, it did not give any indications of any fire on board, according to a spokesperson from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau. The spokesperson said the systems of the aircraft gave indications of an engine fire after it left Melbourne. This compelled the aircraft to return and land.

After the aircraft landed safely at the airport, it was checked. However, no evidence of any fire was found. Malaysia Airlines also indicated through a tweet that preliminary inspection of Flight MH148 did not give any evidence of fire on the aircraft.

The company also highlighted its focus on safety through the same tweet. There were around 300 passengers on the aircraft, which was bound for Kuala Lumpur from Melbourne. Fuel was dumped by the plane before it made an emergency landing, a Melbourne Fire Brigade spokesman said.

In another tweet, Malaysia Airlines said the plane had to turn back while on its way to Kuala Lumpur and it was able to land safely. It added the aircraft was grounded while an investigation was being conducted. A tweet from Melbourne Airport also showed that all operations at the Melbourne Airport will “continue as normal.”

The aircraft was towed back to the gate after the passengers disembarked. None of the passengers of Flight MH148 of Malaysia Airlines received any treatment from paramedics at the scene.
