Male Baldness Linked To Heart Disease
Bad news for sufferers of male baldness around the world. Their condition isn't just an aesthetic problem anymore, it might also be the sign of serious heart problems.
At least that’s what a recent study conducted in Japan by researchers from the University of Tokyo has come up with.
According to the results of the study, men who are begging to lose their hair are more likely to have heart problems and are 32 percent more prone to coronary heart disease.
Tokyo University researchers have made the link between hair loss and heart disease after studying nearly 37,000 people with and without hair loss.
The study was published in the BMJ Open online journal and it said among other things that particularly men who lose hair on the crown of their head are prone to coronary heart disease. Males who had a receding hairline weren't exposed to such high risks.
According to other studies, nearly 50 percent of men experience thinning hair by their 50s and close to 80 percent experience hair loss by their 70s.
However lead researcher Dr Tomohide Yamada mentioned that the issue is not male baldness, but a healthy lifestyle that includes taking care of your heart with reduced levels of salt and fat, exercise and reduced stress.
