Manchester United Coach Alex Ferguson Retires

Manchester United is somehow synonymous with Alex Ferguson, the couch that during the last 27 years made United into one of the most popular teams in world soccer and one of the biggest sport brands of the world. All this while making certain that he will be remembered as the most successful British manager in history.

Ferguson won’t just simply leave Manchester but will leave the team with its 13th Premier League in the bag.

This Wednesday is a day that no Manchester fan will ever forget as during a press conference the legendary coach announced that the end of the season will also mark his departure from the club and the world of sports.

Ferguson began his run at Manchester in 1986 and won a remarkable two Champion League cups, four League Cups, five FA Cups and the 2008 FIFA World Club Cup. The club is currently owned by the Glazer family and is estimated to be worth 3.2 billion dollar. It is also listed at the New York stock exchange.

There is a long list of possible successors with the top spot being occupied by David Moyes, Everton’s manager for the past 11 years and a very close friend to Alex Ferguson.

Alex Ferguson coached some of soccer’s biggest names in the past decades from Eric Cantona to David Beckham to Cristiano Ronaldo  and all of them sent their respect and love via Twitter for one of the greatest managers in soccer history.
