Manu Ginobili Renews His Contract With The Spurs
San Antonio Spurs’ Argentinian guard Manu Ginobili announced that he has reached an understanding with the team and that he will sign a two year extension to his contract.
The star announced the news through his Twitter account this Wednesday. Ginobili who is 35 years old is still considered a very important part in the Spurs team, and alongside Tim Duncan and Tony Parker is one of the most constant player the Spurs have, regardless of his age.
Last season’s stats show Ginobili with 11.8 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds, but no matter how good they may look, the San Antonio player had some darker periods, and even thought of calling it quits and retiring after a poor game against Miami Heat in Game 4 of the finals.
That thought left his mind after a fantastic Game 5 where the guard registered 24 points and 10 assists and decided to stay in the game for at least two more years.
Even if his career may be reaching the end, the Argentinian guard can still offer a lot to the Spurs in these two years, both on the court and off, by serving as an example to younger players not to mention that he is one of the San Antonio Spurs' most fan loved players.
