Maria Bello Addresses Challenges And Rewards Of Coming Out
Maria Bello, the 46 year old actress known for her amazing performances in movies like “A History of Violence” and “Prisoners” has revealed that she is gay in a New York Times editorial she wrote.
In the article, the actress talks about how she explained to her 12-year-old son that she way gay and involved in a serious relationship with a woman. The actress specifies that she followed her therapist’s advice and waited to address her sentimental involvement with a woman only when her son, Jackson, asked.
The actress continues her article by talking about the special bond between her and her significant other, Clare, also adding that she is like a godmother to her son. Bello talks about her romantic history detailing how she was involved with only one other woman before her current relationship, and that the rest of her romantic history is comprised of relationships with men.
Bello also talks about how she received a lot of support from her family; a “large, Italian-Polish traditional family” as she described them and about her father's congratulations on finding a “good girl”, a sentiment that was common among all her relatives.
Maria Bello concluded her article by saying that regardless of the nature of a relationship, the time or the place, “love is love”.
