Michael Jackson never before heard music released in December
Michael Jackson, the departed King of Pop, has a new album slated for release in December, his record label Epic Records announced on Friday.
The new album, entitled “Michael”, would feature tracks that were never heard or released before to the market.
A teaser of the music would be available on his website over the weekend while “Breaking News”, the first single of the album, would be released on Monday. The full release of the album is set to be released on December 14.
The album’s cover is collage of images of the iconic singer at different times in his career, with a photo of him at the center being crowned by cherubs.
“The creative process never stopped for the King of Pop who was always planning for his next album,” Epic Records wrote in the singer’s website. “Unbeknownst to many fans around the world, (he) was writing and recording songs continuously everywhere from a friend’s home in New Jersey to studios in Las Vegas and Los Angeles with a small group of handpicked collaborators.”
The posted statement also said that Jackson had written new songs just before he died at age 50 and that those would finally be released with the new album as the singer would have wanted.
Epic Records did not announce further details about the new album. Last year, a documentary-style film, “This Is It” was released featuring clips of rehearsals by the singer before a concert which was cancelled due to his death.
Jackson’s mother Katherine expressed doubt about the authenticity of the tracks in the new album and said some of the vocals were not performed by his son.
