Mike Rupp Traded By Rangers To Minnesota Wild

The New York Rangers have decided to invest in some new forwards and have traded Mike Rupp to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Darrol Powe and Nick Palmieri.

The Rangers seem to want to complete their fantastic line of forwards with the new transfers joining veterans Rick Nash, Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik.

The deal went through just hours before the Minnesota Wild would play against the Phoenix Coyotes at their home stadium in Arizona.

Darrol Powe who played 204 games for the Philadelphia Flyers before coming to Minnesota has had a good season last year scoring six goals and managing seven assists. This season, however, he seems to be off to a slower start as he hasn't scored a single goal in 8 games.

Palmieri who is a less experienced forward also has decent stats in the AHL, with 10 goals in 40 games while playing for Houston. He played 87 games in the NHL for New Jersey and Minnesota and has scored 13 goals just last season.

The Minnesota Wild needed Rupp’s experience and imposing presence not to mention that his track record highly recommends him with 54 goals and 41 assists in 565 games. Mike Rupp is also the scorer of the winning goal for New Jersey 2003 Stanley Cup victory.
