Millions of Dollars Worth of earthquake early warning system Tested in US

Pasadena, California - Since February of this year, the U.S Government had started testing quietly an early earthquake warning system in the state of California. The U.S. earthquake warning system has been considered years lagging compared to earthquake-prone countries such as Japan and Mexico. This has caused the country to secretly and quietly testing its newest technology in earthquake warning system.

The group of researchers and scientists believe that more funding will make the public warning system in the United States similar to the one deployed in Japan. The high-technology earthquake warning system in Japan has been credited for its role in saving many lives in the March 2011 devastating quake.

Earthquakes will always be unpredictable that is why many supported the idea of an early warning system in order for people to prepare before the ground shakes. Even an advance notice of 5 seconds can make a difference already. People can already find a safer place to protect themselves, a sturdy table for instance. Richard Allen, seismologist at the University of California, Berkeley, said that the system will prevent people from panicking and running out of buildings. The project will be breakthrough for the United States and it hopes to prepare for a possible major and strong earthquake that might hit the country in the future.
