Miss USA 2013 Crown Goes To Miss Connecticut
The Miss USA 2013 crown went to Miss Connecticut, who was agreed to the decision of the US Supreme Court of upholding extensive DNA testing. The 25-year-old Erin Brady won the title along with a one-year stay in an apartment in New York.
Her title reign will require her to go around the country for speaking engagements, and to raise awareness for ovarian and breast cancer, which is the official cause of the organization. The swimsuit competition saw the women strutting to the music of the Jonas Brothers, who performed live during the pageant.
During the evening gown competition, the electronica-infused music of Calvin Harris played in the background as the ladies strutted in their evening gowns.
Among the judges of the Miss USA 2013 pageant were Bob Harper of the “Biggest Loser,” designer Betsey Johnson and Mo Rocca. Rocca was impressed by the pageant, which he said he was aiming to select a winner who was similar to Abraham Lincoln minus the beard.
Nick Jonas and Giuliana Rancic hosted the event, which was aired over NBC from Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
During the past week, the candidates of the Miss USA 2013 pageant stayed in Planet Hollywood. The pageant overshadowed the slot machines and novelty drinks of the venue as a number of events were held in preparation for the coronation night.
The pageant was used by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, to protest the traditional use of fur as prizes in a number of state pageants. The animal rights organization created an ad that featured former winners of the pageant. The tagline of the ad indicated that people should feel beautiful in their own skin and animals should be allowed to keep theirs.
The winner of the Miss USA 2013 pageant will serve as the representative of the United States at the 2013 Miss Universe pageant.
