Mrs. Doubtfire Sequel Being Developed

Over two decades after the original hit the big screen, it appears that Fox is working on a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel that will bring back some of the cast from the original movie.

Robin Williams is expected to become a part of the sequel that will be directed by Chris Columbus, who also directed the original movie. It remains uncertain if Sally Field will be joining the cast of the movie. Williams plays the title role while Field plays the divorced wife of Williams.

However, Mara Wilson, who played the daughter of Williams and Field, revealed that she will not become a part of the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel. She made the revelation through Twitter after reports of the sequel emerged. She indicated that she was never a part of a sequel and is not interested in becoming a part of one.

Mara Wilson was also skeptical of the movie itself since sequels are not generally good unless they are part of a series or a trilogy. She added that the original movie ended at a point where it was supposed to end. She was proud of the original movie and was happy she was a part of it. However, she does not see how they can do the movie again.

Wilson said she was not asked to become a part of the movie, which may not make sense in terms of the plot. However, she loved being part of the original movie and was grateful for the experience.

On the other hand, Lisa Jakub, who played the eldest daughter of Williams and Field, revealed that no one asked her about the sequel and she cannot give any comments without any other information about the plans of the sequel.

The original movie made around $219 million domestically and copped the Academy Award for Best Makeup. Williams won the Best Actor at the Golden Globes for his role in the 1993 movie. The Mrs. Doubtfire sequel does not have a release date and will be written by David Berenbaum.
