Mullah Fazlullah Is The New Taliban Leader In Pakistan
Mullah Fazlullah was named the new leader of the Taliban in Pakistan after a U.S. drone attack killed former leader Hakimullah Mehsud. The attack took place in the North Waziristan region early this November and succeeded to kill Mehsud by firing missiles at his vehicle.
Mullah Fazlullah is a man with a reputation in Pakistan, being the leader of the Taliban soldiers that shot Malala Yousafzai the young schoolgirl that fought for women’s rights to higher education.
The leader’s first move was to shut down peace talks with the Pakistani government as a direct response to the drone attack that killed his predecessor. Sources have also said that Mullah is seeking revenge for the assassination and is going to target army and government officials.
The drone assassination wasn't taken lightly by Pakistani government officials either as the Interior Minister Chadry Nisar Ali Khan said it marks the end of any possible peace talks. The news of Mullah’s leadership was met with enthusiasm and gunfire in the Taliban rich region of North Waziristan.
The new Taliban leader is accused of serious attacks and acts of terrorism like burning down schools, beheadings, bomb attacks and assassinations. Mullah Fazlullah has crossed the border into Afghanistan sometime between 2009 and 2010 but is still orchestrating attacks in the western part of Pakistan.
