Murray State’s First Loss Blamed on “T-shirt Jinx”

Could tees really carry some sort of a “jinx”?  Perhaps a lot of people would say, “That bulls---!”  But hey, Murray State players believe otherwise.

Syracuse first experience the “jinx” when they began selling “victory shirts” that shout their 20-0 start and lost. Murray State had the same fate three weeks later when they released shirts proclaiming victory logos.

Murray State wasted 13 points in the second half and lost the game to Tennessee State with the final score of 72-68 despite strained efforts of their part.

They squandered a big chance when Jewuan Long's pass intended for star Isaiah Canaan was taken by Patrick Miller, Tennessee State's star player. Miller missed two free throws giving Murray State a second chance to win, but Canaan lost power while dribbling and committed a loose ball foul when he dove after the ball.

Murray State had close call victories against San Francisco and Southern Miss in non-league play and against Morehead State and Southeastern Missouri State in the OVC.  But they tasted their first loss after 23 straight victories when Ed Daniel's pass with 3.5 seconds went out of bounds.

This event of losing to Tennessee State team will likely drop Murray State from a No. 5 or 6 seed to a No. 7 or 8 seed in next week's tournament projections in NCAA.
