New England Patriots Defeat Seattle Seahawks At The Super Bowl XLIX

Super Bowl XLIX provided redemption for the New England Patriots as they unseated the defending champions Seattle Seahawks with a 28-24 win. The action on the field is expected to have people talking about the game in the years to come. This is a feat for an annual event that has already become part sport and more parts circus.

The second quarter along with the last two minutes of the game may put it among the best games in the history of the sport. Down by four points in the last two minutes, the ball bounced off the left leg and right knee of Jermaine Kearse before it went back on the air following a pass by Russell Wilson. The ball bounced three times in the air as Kearse struggled to control it before he pulled it into his chest.

However, the win was sealed by Malcolm Butler after he picked off Wilson two plays after. It was the first Super Bowl title of the New England Patriots in the last decade.

New England coach Bill Belichick said they have a great team a good number of great players who played well. The best players in the team performed well as they lived up to their billing prior to Super Bowl XLIX. Marshawn Lynch had a total of 133 yards along with a rushing touchdown.

New England owner Robert Kraft said he was proud of both Belichick and Tom Brady for managing the game with the Seattle Seahawks. He added that all fans of the Patriots should be proud of the two.

On the other hand, Wilson demonstrated his potential at becoming among the best quarterbacks in the game as he set up a pair of scores during the second half.

The game this year had a number of memorable moments compared to the previous Super Bowls. There were numerous good plays, including the goal-line interception of Jeremy Lane as well as the 23-yard catch of Julian Edelman in front of Tharold Simon. The first touchdown of Seattle was set up by an excellent 44-yard catch of Chris Matthews. Wilson also made a rainbow pass to Ricardo Lockette that set up the second touchdown of Seattle.

Marshawn Lynch also broke four tackles that set up another scoring opportunity for Seattle.

While Brady is considered to be among the best quarterbacks in the game, his integrity came under attack following the role he supposedly played when the footballs lost air pressure during the AFC Championship game. He denied being involved in the controversy and revealed that he was upset over the accusations. However, he did not appear upset in the game as he directed a pair of long drives that made him the most prolific quarterback in the Super Bowl.

New England cornerback Darrelle Revis said Brady is the best quarterback in the game and that his hard work has finally paid off. The thirteen touchdown passes of Brady broke the previous record of Joe Montana. He currently has four Super Bowl rings, tying Terry Bradshaw and Montana.
