New Gran Turismo Movie Coming Soon

It appears that a new Gran Turismo movie is in the offing. Sony Computer Entertainment recently confirmed that another movie about its Sony PlayStation game series is being developed. However, it did not reveal any details about the upcoming movie.

The company did not release any other statements in connection to the project.

The report initially emerged last Wednesday when Dana Brunetti and Mike De Luca, the producers of Fifty Shades of Grey, will work on the upcoming movie that is based on the game developed by Polyphony Studios and Kazunori Yamauchi.

The upcoming Gran Turismo movie project will be handled by executives of Sony Pictures, Hannah Minghella, Elizabeth Cantillon, and DeVon Franklin, the report revealed. Although a number of gamers are playing MMO games or social games through their mobile devices, Hollywood producers still think that audiences still feel the need for speed. In fact, the “Need for Speed” movie of DreamWorks is set to be released in 2014.

On the other hand, Legendary Pictures is aiming to lure Simon Crane and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to take the helm of its “Hot Wheels’ movie.

Box Office Mojo revealed that the “Fast and the Furious 6” has led the way for this movie theme when its domestic ticket sales surpassed the $237 million level recently.

Regardless of its potential rivals on the big screen, Sony has not revealed any details of the Gran Turismo movie project. The latest version of the popular game of Sony is set to be released before the end of the year. Gran Turismo 6 was announced by the game manufacturer last May and is set to be released in time for the holiday shopping rush. This latest installment of the game may keep fans busy before the Gran Turismo movie is finally released by the company into the big screen.
