Next Star Wars Director May Be JJ Abrams

Reports have revealed that the upcoming installment of the hit movie series, “Star Wars”, may be directed by JJ Abrams.

The upcoming film will be the first “Star Wars” movie after Lucasfilm was acquired by Disney to the tune of $4.06 billion. It will reportedly be called “Episode 7.” JJ Abrams is known for the hit TV series “Lost” and was also at the helm of the latest “Star Trek” movie, which is set to hit the big screen on May 17.

Disney or the representatives of JJ Abrams did not release any statements after the reports emerged.

However, the reports resulted to a good amount of chatter over the internet. In fact, JJ Abrams was among the trending topics on Twitter.

The writer and producer who collaborated with the director on the Star Trek movie seemed to corroborate the reports when he tweeted “True!” to answer questions on the involvement of JJ Abrams on the next “Star Wars” movie.

Although the director indicated that he was not interested in taking the helm of the upcoming “Star Wars” movie following the announcement of Disney, he was still considered as the obvious choice for the job. In a lecture he gave in 2007, JJ Abrams talked about the plot of the first ‘Star Wars” movie and he also indicated in 2009 that he was more into “Star Wars” than “Star Trek” when he was young.

JJ Abrams became the second popular personality to be linked with the upcoming Star Wars movie. Lucasfilm indicated earlier that the screenplay of “Episode 7” will be made by Michael Arndt. Arndt is the man behind “Toy Story 3” and “Little Miss Sunshine.”

According to a GeeksofDoom.com staff write, JJ Abrams may be able to make the upcoming “Star Wars” movie original while satisfying long-time fans of the movie franchise.
