Next X-Men Spinoff To Be Deadpool
While an initial project for a Deadpool movie has been prepared for years it has never materialized into something palpable, that is until this Thursday when Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Comics announced that a Deadpool movie is to be expected by February 2016.
Few things are known about the cast and crew of the movie other than director Tim Miller. Ryan Reynolds is rumoured to be a favourite for the leading role, however, nothing official has yet been presented.
Deadpool or Wade Wilson is one of the less known but beloved character in the X-Men universe. He has several powers, one of the most important being his ability to quickly recover from any injury, much like Wolverine, another spinoff character. Reynolds already played Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The sudden move to produce Deadpool might not be a coincidence as a series of test footage clips were leaked on the internet just weeks ago. They showed a very convincing Reynolds starring as Deadpool. While the footage was shot a couple of years ago, it did spark a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm for the character and a possible full length movie.
In a recent interview, the Canadian actor said that the leak was a good thing for the movie as it set the complex inner workings of Hollywood into motion. Reynolds has expressed interest in playing Deadpool several times over the years, even before the disappointing Green Lantern experience.
