Next Xbox May Be Revealed On May 21
Invitations to an upcoming event hosted by Microsoft may see the introduction of the next Xbox. The invitation invited the media to a special revelation on May 21 at the Xbox campus. The invitation was sent by the Xbox team led by Don Mattrick, the interactive Entertainment Business division of Microsoft.
The release of the invitation appears to confirm speculations that the company is set to release a new model of its video game console. The event will be broadcast live through Spike TV and the Xbox.
The upcoming launch of the next Xbox was initially reported during an interview with Paul Thurrott, a well-known Microsoft blogger. He revealed the possible date for the launch of the video game console by the software giant.
The Xbox 360 of Microsoft has outperformed a number of video game consoles in the US market for the last two years including the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. During this time, the software giant was in no hurry to unveil the next model of its game console into the market.
Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 last February. It comes with a better graphics chip and bigger storage compared to the previous version of the game console. On the other hand, the Wii U was launched by Nintendo last November in an attempt to increase its sales in the market. The device features a game controller that can be used as a secondary screen display.
Industry watchers expect the company to reveal the specifications of the next Xbox during the event this coming May 21. It may also show that the device will not be limited to gaming and will highlight entertainment.
The launch of the upcoming game console next month comes before the E3 trade show that will be held in Los Angeles. The company is also expected to unveil a number of game titles for the next Xbox during the E3 event in June.
