NFL Gives Prime Time Schedule To Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins Game

The game of the Dallas Cowboys against the Washington Redskins was moved to prime time recently by the NFL. The change in the schedule resulted to the second consecutive year where the NFC East crown will be played in prime time.

The Washington Redskins have a one-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. However, the Giants may not have any chance in defending its division championship basing on a number of tiebreaker scenarios. On the other hand, the Dallas Cowboys still have the opportunity to take home the title if they win on Sunday.

The Redskins also have the opportunity to become the NFC East titleholder for the first time in over a decade with a win on Sunday. If the Dallas Cowboys win on Sunday, the third tiebreaker or the common opponent tiebreaker will give Dallas the edge over Washington since it has an 8-4 record against the 7-5 record of the latter. The first tiebreaker or the head-to-head record between the two teams shows that they are 1-1 when they played against each other. The second tiebreaker or the record against NFC East opponents also shows a tie between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys at 4-2.

The Cowboys will have to win the game in order to remain in playoff contention while the Redskins can be a wild-card team even if they will lose the game. However, it will be necessary for the Bears and Viking to lose to give the Redskins a wild-card status.

New York can still join the playoffs as a wild card team if the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and Minnesota Viking will lose their games, and they will win against the Eagles.
