NFL Record Broken By Peyton Manning

The single-season touchdown record at the NFL was broken recently by Peyton Manning after he threw his 51st touchdown during the game of the Denver Broncos against the Houston Texans.

The record-breaking throw was the fourth touchdown pass of the Broncos quarterback. It was for Julius Thomas, tight end for Denver. Aside from record-breaking performance of Manning, the Broncos also won the game and the AFC West.

The previous record was at 50 by Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. Brady set the record number of touchdowns in 2007, which broke an earlier record of Manning in 2004 with 49 touchdown passes.

Denver was led by Eric Decker with a total of ten receptions with 131 yards while Demarylius Thomas had eight receptions for a total of 123 yards. On the other hand, Wes Welker did not play for the second consecutive game after suffering another concussion in the last four weeks on December 8.

Thomas said that the team was not surprised with the performance of Peyton Manning. Manning works hard every day and it is obvious that he gives his best in every game. Fortunately, the team was the beneficiary of the hard work on Manning.

However, Manning did not hog the limelight as he shared the credit with the other members of the team.

Manning said the record-breaking pass was an achievement for the team. He added that a good number of people played a number of roles in the record-breaking feat.

The Denver quarterback passed a total of 5,211 yards for this season alone. He only needs to pass 266 yards to break the single-season record at the NFL. The record was set by Drew Bees of the New Orleans Saints in 2011.

In addition to the record-breaking feat of Peyton Manning, Houston’s Andre Johnson tied the NFL record with his four receptions, which allowed him to have at least one hundred receptions for five consecutive seasons.
