Nigerian Arabic School Bombing leaves 7 casualties
A homemade bomb was thrown by assailants in Southern Nigeria’s delta state which is now causing tension between Muslims and Christians considering the recent outpour of church bombings. Police claimed that there had been 7 civilians injured, wherein 6 were children below 9 and an adult.
The said bombing took place on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at around 10 P.M., exactly 2 days after the church bombings that happened during Christmas Day. The assailants were described to be driving a Camry car as they threw a low capacity homemade bomb into the building where the Arabic class was in session. It was said that militant group Boko Haram was behind all the bombings with the intention of igniting a sectarioan conflict. This is the second Christmas Day bombing caused by Boko Haram.
The worst attack by Boko Haram was in St. Theresa Catholic Chruch in Madalla which killed a total of 27 people, not to mention wrecked nearby buildings and vehicles by worshippers who were coming out from the Christmas mass.
Experts say that this may revive the sectarian violence between the Muslim north and the Christian south which happened in the past. The said Christmas Day bombings have caused fear of another religious war to Northern Nigerian Christians.
