Notorious B.I.G. Death Anniversary Commemorated With New Song

Nearly 20 years ago on March 9, 1997, the Notorious B.I.G was killed as his SUV stopped at a red light in Los Angeles. To commemorate the 19th death anniversary of Biggie Smalls, Lil’ Kim released a new track to remember her former lover and mentor.

The female emcee worked with Maino on a new song, “Did it for Brooklyn,” The song was released on the death anniversary of the late rapper. Kim revealed that the rapper was her friend, lover and her everything. She added that she was the biggest fan of the rapper, whose real name is Christopher George Latore Wallace.

Kim got to know B.I.G after she joined the Junior Mafia Crew of the rapper in 1995. She said that the rapper knew she will become a top female artist and that she would become the biggest female rapper. She added that she thought that Biggie Smalls was inspired by her to want to try different things as well as become different.

The female rapper also said that they were “a match made in heaven.” She added they were like Ashford and Simpson or Sonny and Cher. Aside from releasing the new song on Wednesday, Lil’ Kim also performed in a tribute concert to honor the Notorious B.I.G. on Wednesday night.

On the other hand, a number of messages were shared by Faith Evans and Sean “Diddy” Combs were shared through social media. Two different posts were shared by Diddy though Instagram. The first post showed a black and white picture showing the late rapper. It carried a caption “Miss You” as well as the hashtags #brooklyn, #badboy and #BIG. In addition to the second picture, the rapper also wrote that the game has not been the same since Biggie Smalls was killed. He added that he missed the late rapper.

A collage was reposted by Evans in honor of the Notorious B.I.G. with a caption saying that they miss the late rapper.
