Office 2016 Release Date Confirmed

Microsoft announced recently that the Office 2016 is set to be released on September 26. The tech giant also revealed it will release feature updates every month through Office 365. A leaked image from the intranet of a Microsoft employee initially showed the release date for the productivity suite.

Julie White of Microsoft said through a blog post that rumors have spread about the release date before she confirmed the release date. The blog post also revealed that feature and security updates will be released each month for Office 365 subscribers beginning October.

The regular updates released by the Office team for consumers are similar to the updates released for Windows 10 Home users. On the other, Businesses using the Office 365 ProPlus will receive accumulated feature updates every quarter in addition to security patches released every month.

Office 2016 is essentially similar to previous versions and the major changes are mainly associated with new methods of collaborating in real-time. New color themes will also be offered for the productivity suite similar to what is available for the free Office mobile apps of Microsoft. The “Tell Me” feature on the software provides assistance in locating menu items that are not easy to find.

For the moment, the pricing for the standalone version of the software has yet to be announced by Microsoft. Subscribing to Office 365 will cost users $70 annually. The subscription comes with free updates to future versions of the Office productivity suite.

This is important since the release of Office products, such as Office 2016, is not quite significant because the Office 365 subscriptions are being promoted by the company as a better way of accessing the productivity suite.
