“Oz the Great and Powerful” Sequel Supposedly In The Works

Although “Oz the Great and Powerful” has yet to show good numbers at the box office, a sequel is reportedly being prepared by Disney for the upcoming movie.

Reports have indicated that a request was made by the studio for a follow-up to be prepared by Mitchell Kapner, who was a co-writer of the first movie together with David Lindsay-Abaire. The movie was directed by Sam Raimi and has James Franco playing the title role. The “Oz the Great and Powerful” movie follows the story of Oz when he started to live in the land that had the yellow brick road.

The movie is supposed to be the prequel to the 1939 classic movie, “The Wizard of Oz”. However, critics have mixed reviews of the movie with some calling it awful while others consider it as a good family movie. This was shown in a fresh rating of 59 percent at the website of Rotten Tomatoes.

The plot of the sequel remains uncertain, and no statements were issued by Disney on the reports of the supposed sequel. The upcoming “Oz the Great and Powerful” movie is expected to rake in $80 million in local ticket sales.

On the other hand, Franco is set to be honored at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor received the tribute with his mother, Raimi and Seth Rogen. Franco and Rogen are good friends since the two actors started on a series that was on air from 199 all the way to 200. Franco also received an Oscar nod for the 2010 movie, “127 Hours.”

Franco has the reputation of wanting to enhance his education and is a determined creator. After “Oz the Great and Powerful”, he is set to star on “Of Mice and Men” on Broadway, where he will play the role of George.
