Ozone Depletion in the Arctic Region Worst in History

Scientists recently discovered that the ozone layer above the Arctic has been continuously depleting due to the worsening global warming and climate change. The ozone layer, considered by scientists as beautiful as our planet Earth, has been disregarded by most of the common folks. Many are not familiar of how important it is for us to survive.

It is very useful, the nearly invisible protective ozone layer protects us from harmful UV rays released by the sun and keeps life forms thrive on Earth. Over 80% of the ozone layer depletion in the Arctic Region has been detected to already exist. Ozone depletion has been commonly detected in the Arctic Region on a regular occurrence but the level of depletion this year was indeed shocking for scientists and was record breaking.

Jet Propulsion Laboratory Researchers in California believe they have the answer to the fast-depleting ozone layer in the Arctic Region.  Unusually and irregular cold air in the stratosphere part of our atmosphere may form toxic chlorine that may harm our ozone layer. But the best answer for ozone depletion is climate change. Stratosphere cools as the climate on the earth's ground level continues to warm due to man-made environment hazards and greenhouse gasses emitted to our atmosphere. Researchers however, are continuously studying to determine the root cause of the ozone depletion in the Arctic Region.
