Paul Rudd Cops Ant-Man Movie Role
Paul Rudd us set to play An-Man, a shrinking superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios announced recently. The upcoming movie is expected to start the ball rolling for the third phase for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie will be directed by Edgar Wright.
A statement from Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, revealed that Wright gave the idea of letting the star of Anchorman to play the role in the movie. He indicated that the actor agreed to play the role and was enthusiastic about it. Due to this, the studio knew they had the right actor, and were excited for the audiences on how he can bring life to the Ant-Man.
It remains uncertain which Ant-Man will be used for the role played by Paul Rudd. The original Ant-Man of Marvel Comics, Hank Pym, initially emerged in the “Tales to Astonish” in 1962. He is also a charter member of the Avengers after the superhero group made its first appearance in 1963.
However, Scott Lang is currently playing the role of the Ant-Man. The character is also playing the superhero on the Fantastic Four comic. A test footage showing the shrinking effect was released by Wright at the Comic Con in 2012 during a presentation by Marvel. The screenplay for the Ant-Man was co-written by Wright and Joe Cornish.
The movie starring Paul Rudd is expected to hit the big screen by July 31, 2015.
