Picture Of King Abdullah II Goes Viral
A picture of King Abdullah II of Jordan wearing military fatigues was posted recently at the official Facebook page of The Royal Hashemite Court. The picture resulted to speculations that the king may join the attacks against the Islamic State. The king of Jordan is a former pilot of a Cobra attack helicopter.
The caption under the picture indicated that the king, who is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Jordan, interrupted his visit to the United States following the martyrdom of the Jordanian pilot, Muath Al Kasasbeh. The pilot was captured by the Sunni radicals in Syria late last year.
The government of Jordan announced that the response of Jordan to the execution of Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh by the Islamic State in Syria will be “strong, earth-shaking and decisive.” The king reportedly also quoted a line from “Unforgiven” when he met with the members of the US Congress following the execution of the pilot.
Republican representative Duncan Hunter reportedly said that the king talked about retribution that was never before seen by ISIS. He added that the king mentioned Clint Eastwood and “Unforgiven” while quoting the movie. While the government of Jordan refuted speculations that the king will join the bombing runs, his decades of service in the military earned him the title of the “warrior king.”
The picture of the king wearing the military fatigues went viral recently. In 1990, King Abdullah II was enrolled in the Royal Military Academy of the UK in Sandhuurst before becoming an elite pilot of the Cobra attack helicopter.
