“Pitch Perfect 2” Tops Sales Chart Of Billboard
The official soundtrack of “Pitch Perfect 2” topped the sales chart of Billboard recently as it sold over 100,000 units in the week that ended on May 17. The soundtrack of the sequel outperformed the soundtrack of the original movie, which was able to reach the number 3 spot on the chart as it sold around 1.2 million copies.
The latest milestone is another feather to its cap as it outshone “Mad Max” in the box office over the weekend. The movie is a perfect mix of a cappella renditions of the songs of Fall Out Boy and Kriss Kross. It also has cameos from a number of stars including Snoop Dogg and Jessie J. It topped the sales chart after selling around 92,000 albums along with its downloaded content.
The soundtrack for “Pitch Perfect 2” is also listed on the top five of the Billboard 200, which included the soundtracks of Furious 7 and Fifty Shades of Grey. Furious 7 features “See You Again” of Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa while 50 Shades of Grey has the songs of Ellie Goulding and The Weeknd. The other two spots were taken by “Wilder Mind” of Mumford & Sons and “Listen” of David Guetta.
The presence of “Pitch Perfect 2” and the two other soundtracks in the top five is the most since “Hannah Montana 2,” “High School Musical 2,” and “Hairspray” reached the top of the list in 2007.
