Plane With Jenni Rivera Crashes
The Ministry of Transportation and Communication of Mexico located the small plane carrying Jenni Rivera in the mountains near Nuovo Leon.
The Learjet crashed last Sunday as it made its way from Monterrey to Toluca. Authorities revealed that all seven passengers, including Rivera, perished in the crash. Rivera is a popular Mexican singer who is well-known for her work in the nortena and banda music genre. She is also one of the most popular bilingual stars of NBCUniversal.
Rivera is the star of the reality show, "I Love Jenni" and has her own line of cosmetic and clothing products. She is the daughter of Pedro Rivera, the founder of Cintas Acuario, an independent record label. Her brother, Lupillo, is also a well-known Mexican regional singer.
ABC was reportedly working on a sitcom about a single Latina mother that would have starred Rivera.
Initially Rivera did not want to join the musical dynasty of the family, according to her biography on Telemundo. She was divorced from her first husband and obtained a business administration degree before she joined the real estate industry. However, she eventually joined the record label of her father.
She was introduced into the music industry through "Chacalosa" and was later signed by one of the biggest regional Mexican music labels, Fonovisa. This allowed her to become one of the best-selling regional singers after selling around 1.2 million albums along with 349,000 digital tracks, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Her songs reflected parts of her life that included an early marriage, domestic abuse, and divorce. Rivera also established The Jenny Rivera Love Foundation that provided support to domestic abuse victims and single mothers in the US.
Reports also revealed that Jenni Rivera was set to divorce her second husband, Esteban Loaiza, a former MLB player.
