“Pregnant Man” Thomas Beatie Splits From Wife, Will He Ever Get Pregnant Again?

Thomas Beatie, who shocked the world and made headlines in 2008 when he became the world’s first man ever to give birth, has split from his wife, Nancy, after nine years.

Beatie announced the news during a taping of an episode of “The Doctors,” which is set to air on May 7.

"Like all marriages, we have our ups and downs, and we’re going through a rough patch right now," the 38-year-old said. "At the moment, we’re separated."

He also revealed that he had undergone the last of his female-to-male sex reassignment surgeries which he started in 2002.

"Nancy hasn’t seen the new me yet," said Beatie.

Since giving birth to the couple's first child, Susan, in July 2008, Beatie has given birth to two sons, Austin and Jensen

In April 2008, while pregnant with the couple's first child, Beatie made public his marriage to Nancy.

"To our neighbors, my wife, Nancy, and I don’t appear in the least unusual. To those in the quiet Oregon community where we live, we are viewed just as we are -- a happy couple deeply in love.”

“Our desire to work hard, buy our first home, and start a family was nothing out of the ordinary. That is, until we decided that I would carry our child," he said. "I am transgender, legally male, and legally married to Nancy,” he said.
