“Pretty Little Liars” Extended To Sixth and Seventh Seasons
“Pretty Little Liars,” will be coming back for a sixth and seventh season as the drama series was renewed by ANC Family recently. The renewal comes ahead of the premiere of the fifth season of the series.
The sixth season is set to hit the small screen by the middle part of 2015 while season seven will debut in the middle of 2016. Although ABC Family did not provide any details on the number of episodes each season will have, it is expected to have around 22 to 25 episodes basin on the past seasons of the series.
The drama series from Warner Horizon Television has maintained its positions as the highest-rated series on ABC Family, crossing critical demographics. It also has around 3.8 million viewers.
The social media coverage of “Pretty Little Liars” has been phenomenal since its launch in 2010. It was named by Nielsen as among the most-tweeted series last year. The most recent season generated around 675,000 tweets for each episode. The series is also the second ABC Family series to hit the 100-episode level. The other series that reached the 100-episode level is “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”
Ravenswood, a spinoff from the series, was launched by ABC Family last year to try to enlarge the series into a franchise. However, the ratings of Ravenswood were not good enough resulting to its cancellation after ten episodes. It remains uncertain of season seven will be the final season of the series.
Marlene King, executive producer of the show, said it is essential to end the show when it is supposed to end. King added they have a story they want to tell and when they do not want to tell the story anymore, it should already end.
Among the stars of “Pretty Little Liars” are Troian Bellisario, Lucy Hale, Laura Leighton, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Ian Harding, Janel Parrish and Sasha Pieterse.
