Price Of iPhone 5C Reduced By Walmart

The price of the iPhone 5C was dropped to less than a dollar at Walmart. The price drop by the retailer is seen by industry watchers as its way of preparing for the launch of the reported iPhone 6 by selling old stocks at low-cost prices.

Reports have emerged hinting at the upcoming release of the iPhone 6 by Apple. This resulted to a reduction in the price tags of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. A spokesperson from Walmart revealed that the price of iPhone 5S will be reduced by the retailer to around $79 while the 5C will be priced at $0.97. The prices of the two smartphones from Apple before the price drop were at $99 and $29, respectively.

The new price tags for the two iPhone models are applicable to all color options. However, it will be necessary to sign up for a two-year service contract with AT&T, US Cellular, Verizon, or Sprint to take advantage of the cut rate price tag.

It has been noted in the past that whenever Apple prepares for the release of a new model of the iPhone, retail companies normally reduce the prices of existing smartphone they currently have in stock. The same situation was noted when the iPhone 5S and 5C were launched last September. Prior to the launch of the two iPhone models, retailers reduced the price of the iPhone 5. Among the retailers that reduced the price of the iPhone 5 last September were Walmart, Target and Best Buy.

However, the reduction in the price tag of the two iPhone models does not appear to be the only sign of the upcoming release of the iPhone 6. A number of reports in the past few months showed leaked images of the supposed iPhone 6. The images showed a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model. The images also hinted that the iPhone 6 may come with an enhanced camera along with a reversible USB cable.

Industry watchers have speculated that the iPhone 6 may be released into the market by September, which is around two weeks after the price reduction of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
